Job Overview:

The Manager of Operations, Haiti works in close partnership with the Program Assistant and together, are responsible for the execution and supervision of LiveDifferent’s Programs in Haiti including supporting Ecole l’Union, the Freedom Village, LiveDifferent staff and volunteers.  Close to 400 students are registered at Ecole l’Union and are supported by a small team of educators.  The Freedom Village is a transition home for girls exploited in the restavek system; the facility, once operational, will support up to 30 girls. 

Key to the success of this role will be building a strong, collaborative relationship with ASSEDH, LiveDifferent’s partner in Haiti, and with other partnering organizations.  The Manager of Operations, Haiti will benefit from working closely with LiveDifferent staff in the Dominican Republic and in Canada.  

The Manager of Operations, Haiti has strong interpersonal skills and a solid understanding of cultural diversity and international / community development.  With well-developed leadership skills, the Manager has the ability and confidence to lead in a complex environment.  Like all LiveDifferent staff, the Manager of Operations, Haiti shares in and lives the vision, values, and goals of LiveDifferent.  

The Manager of Operations, Haiti has a flexible work schedule and, while living in Haiti, will be expected to travel regularly throughout the region and to Canada.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Team Leadership

In conjunction with local staff, the Manager of Operations, Haiti works to ensure positive team dynamics in a supportive and encouraging culture. When necessary, the Manager supports and supervises full-time local staff and contract employees.

Project Management

In liaison with other LiveDifferent staff, this position ensures local projects are handled professionally and may need to be involved, in a peripheral capacity, with small construction projects and ongoing maintenance.  Where necessary, this position supports the programming of Ecole L’Union and the Freedom Village.  Gathering and reporting on statistics also fall within the purview of the Manager role.

Community Development

While keeping current with significant events within Haiti and its communities (conflicts, protests, funerals, development by other organizations, etc.), the position oversees LiveDifferent’s development work and operationalizes LiveDifferent’s Development Model, in partnership with local leaders.

Financial Management

This position is accountable for implementing responsible financial practices, working within a budget and ensuring receipts and financial information are submitted in a timely and organized manner.

Vehicles

In compliance with Canadian standards of maintenance and repair and LiveDifferent’s policy on vehicle operation, this position manages company vehicles, documentation, maintenance and repair to ensure safe operation.

Safety

The Manager of Operations, Haiti oversees staff and volunteer well-being by being familiar with local emergency services and hospitals and ensuring staff are aware of emergency protocols.

Qualifications Required:

– Fluency in English, French/Creole
– Knowledge of and alignment with the values of Servant Leadership
– Familiarity and alignment with LiveDifferent’s Development Model
– Experience supporting a diverse team and contributing to their growth
– Strong cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills
– Similar hands-on international experience (preferably in Haiti)
– Valid driver’s licence and passport, and ability to travel internationally without restrictions
– Successful Criminal Record Check
– Self-motivated, resilient, kind, and compassionate
– Able to prioritize and organize work efficiently
– Awesome sense of humour
– Competent with common computer software (spreadsheets, word processing)

This position will be interacting with vulnerable girls; due to the sensitive nature of the role, we are prioritizing women applicants for this position.
