Justice for Jordie

In 2016, Jennifer Leinen embarked on her first Build Trip with LiveDifferent to the Dominican Republic, a journey that would change her life. That trip was made all the more special by the presence of her granddaughter, Jordan Leinen, who helped Jennifer raise funds for the project. Jordan shared her grandmother’s passion for making a difference in the world, and together, they dreamed of one day going on another Build trip—this time, in 2025.

Tragically, that dream was never realized. Jordan, just 19 years old, was taken from this world far too soon due to a shooting in Alberta. The pain of losing Jordan is immeasurable, but Jennifer is determined to honor her granddaughter’s memory in a meaningful way. Rather than focusing on the trip they had planned, Jennifer has chosen to raise funds in Jordan’s name to build an interior addition for a girls’ room at Freedom Village in Haiti. This project will help provide a safe and nurturing environment for young girls in need—a fitting tribute to Jordan’s generous spirit and her desire to make a lasting impact.

Jennifer is also dedicating this fundraising effort to her dear friend, Trina Andrews, who was with her on that very first Build trip in 2016. Trina recently suffered a serious head injury, and Jennifer is deeply committed to supporting her through this difficult time. This fundraiser is a way to honor both Jordan and Trina—two women who have made a difference in Jennifer’s life and in the lives of others. We invite you to join Jennifer in helping to achieve this important goal, supporting both the memory of Jordan and the recovery of Trina. Your donation will go directly toward building a better future for the girls at Freedom Village, ensuring that their rooms will be safe, welcoming, and full of hope. Together, let’s honor the legacies of both Jordan Leinen and Trina Andrews, and make a real difference in the lives of those in need.

What is Freedom Village?

The Freedom Village offers a safe home for girls who have experienced abuse through Haiti’s Restavek system. With your generous support, these girls can receive the education, counselling and care they need to find hope and healing for a brighter future. We invite you to play a part in the restoration and healing of girls who have experienced extremely abusive pasts. With your help, they can ascend the hill and find a safe place to heal, grow, and flourish. LiveDifferent’s mission is to provide a nurturing and empowering environment for young girls who have faced serious adversity in Haiti. The girls’ dorms at the Freedom Village are nearly complete, but we need funds to add the finishing touches, including stairs, flooring and furniture. These additions will make them more comfortable as they’re on their healing journey.
