Karen brings commitment, smarts, and a wealth of leadership experience from her time at the top of another national, youth-focused Canadian charity. Holding both a Masters of Social Work and a Masters of Public Policy, Administration and Law, she is well equipped to help refine and improve all areas of the organization in order to make an even greater impact on the people we serve.
What do you love about what you do?
It’s fulfilling to build on the strengths of the organization and its programs to have as great an impact as possible.
What would an ideal free day look like for you?
Hanging out with my husband, wandering about a town, in any country in the world and stopping for snacks and a drink on a patio every so often, to watch the world go by. That’d be pretty sweet.
You’re stranded on an island and can only have 5 things with you. What are they?
I feel like a satellite phone and a GPS would come in handy so that I’d only have to be stranded for a short time until I was rescued. Then the other three items would be Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series, a water purification cup and a Costco size bag of Lay’s chips.
