This fund honours Alex Middleton by helping youth step into the same life-changing experiences that shaped him. Donations give young people the opportunity to serve others and make a difference by building a house for a family in need.
Alex Middleton gave his time, energy, and heart to helping others.
Alex’s involvement with LiveDifferent began when he went on a week-long house build trip in 2012 with his father, Les. Their trip inspired Alex to make a bigger impact through the LiveDifferent Academy Program, a six-month commitment split between time in Mexico and time in Canada. Alex took a job as a roofer and saved his wages to pay for the program, allowing him to continue working with the organization. He went on to spend several months in Mexico building homes for families in need. The relationships he formed and the realities he witnessed stayed with him long after he returned home. He had many great stories of the people he met and experiences shared (including “Week in the Life!”).
In Canada, Alex shared his journey with students through LiveDifferent school presentations from Manitoba to the east coast. He spoke openly and courageously about his personal experience with addiction and mental health. He hoped his honesty might help others feel less alone.
Alex’s passion for service also inspired his two younger brothers, Matt and Rob, to join LiveDifferent build trips themselves, continuing a legacy of compassion, empathy, and action.
The Alex Middleton House Build Fund honours Alex’s life by supporting the work he believed in, and ensuring that his impact continues to create opportunity, understanding, and hope for others.
Make a difference for families living in poverty.
