40 nonprofits achieve Imagine Canada Standards accreditation

Accredited organizations demonstrate leadership in transparency and good governance

Toronto, January 30, 2024 — Imagine Canada, the umbrella organization for the charitable and nonprofit sector, is proud to introduce the latest cohort of organizations accredited under the Standards. This diverse group of 40 nonprofits showcases the commitment of Canadian nonprofits to uphold the highest standards of accreditation in governance and transparency.

About the Standards

Organizations participating in the Standards have access to a spectrum of resources at all stages of the process, such as self-assessment tools, volunteer peer advisors from accredited organizations, and online resources to strengthen practices. The peer reviewers’ assessment of policies and practices, as well as constructive feedback, contribute to elevating accountability, transparency, and sound governance practices in Canadian charities and nonprofits.

The Standards is the only national, bilingual, accreditation program created to improve the governance and operations of charities and nonprofits across Canada and strengthen donor and public confidence in the sector. The Standards leverage the wisdom and expertise of the nonprofit sector in five fundamental areas: board governance, financial accountability and transparency, fundraising, human resources, and volunteer involvement.

The Accreditation Trustmark lets donors and volunteers know that when supporting an organization, their goodwill is in good hands.

The Standards is made possible with the financial contributions from founding and presenting partner Canada Life.
