The role
We are seeking a Director of Community Engagement to join our leadership team for an 18-month maternity leave contract. Reporting to the CEO, this role provides strategic oversight of marketing, communications, sales, and fundraising initiatives while leading a team of two. This is a unique opportunity for a servant leader who is passionate about youth, storytelling, and building meaningful partnerships.
What you’ll do
- Lead and support the Community Engagement Team.
- Oversee brand strategy, creative direction, and communications.
- Grow national awareness of LiveDifferent and expand program reach.
- Provide data-driven oversight of sales and marketing strategies.
- Support fundraising campaigns, partner relations, and special events (including galas).
- Contribute to copywriting and content development for LiveDifferent’s social media, newsletters, website, email marketing, impact reports and promotional material.
- Manage LiveDifferent merchandise and oversee the design, strategy, ordering and fulfillment of products.
- Lead public relations efforts by crafting press releases and managing all media relations.
- Assist with new and existing external relationships and partnerships.
- Serve on the Directors Team, offering operational and strategic leadership.
- Manage and oversee the marketing budget to ensure resources are allocated effectively and strategically.
What you bring
- 5+ years of management experience leading communications, marketing, or fundraising teams in the nonprofit sector; OR a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field combined with 3+ years of relevant leadership experience.
- Proven ability to build or promote a national brand.
- Proven project management experience, with the ability to plan, execute, and deliver complex initiatives on time and within budget.
- Fundraising event planning experience.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
- Excellent writing and communication abilities.
- Technical proficiency; Salesforce, WordPress, Adobe Suite, Canva, ClickUp, Shopify and Google Suite experience are assets.
- Ability to travel nationally and internationally (approx. 20–30 days/year).

Salary range
$80,000 – $90,000
