About Academy

The LiveDifferent Academy takes your passion to learn, serve, and grow and puts them all together into a 13-week experience in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti.* You’ll leave a lasting impact on the world around you while being transformed in your thinking, your actions, and your focus for the future. Needless to say, this experience will challenge and shape you like nothing else you’ve experienced.

The Academy is a small, personal program that invites you to step out of your comfort zone and consider yourself and the world around you through a lens of care, compassion, and social justice. We offer Academy students the opportunity to be immersed in local cultures, dig into our social justice course, receive Spanish tutoring, invest in the local communities and build relationships by sharing weekly evenings with host families along the way.

The tuition for Academy 2024 is $9,100 CAD.

It is broken down into two segments…

Program Costs – $3,600

The Program Costs can be paid directly to LiveDifferent (via cheque, credit card, or Interac email transfer to donate@livedifferent.com) and it includes the initial deposit of $500**. This amount is not eligible for a charitable tax receipt. Please email us or call our office and we can walk you through the options and our refund policy.

Charitable Project Costs – $5,500

The Charitable Project Costs support your involvement in working with local community organizations, your involvement in a building project and our ongoing community projects. This amount can be raised through your LiveDifferent fundraising page once you have registered for the Academy. Any contributions made towards the Charitable Project Costs will be eligible for a tax receipt as per our donation policy. Please note that all donations are 100% non-refundable.

Please Note:

*LiveDifferent reserves the right to adjust the travel itinerary within the 13 weeks of the program as needed in response to any instability or change in government travel advisories. The health and safety of our students, partner communities and staff are always our first priority.

**A $500 deposit is required within 2 weeks of registration and is fully refundable until LiveDifferent has confirmed the minimum number of students have registered. Students will be notified by email once the program is confirmed for the upcoming semester.
